Introducing Market Square Tavern
The latest addition to the Concept Taverns portfolio.
Bingley has been on our radar for a few years, it’s a great town in West Yorkshire with an impressive range of independent shops, bars and restaurants. Other commitments in recent years have taken us elsewhere but we were delighted when this opportunity presented itself.
Drawn to the rich history of the town, we were eager to learn more about the Ferrands Arms, having been a feature of the market square since 1840 at the latest. The venue took its name from the local Ferrands family who once owned a majority of the neighbouring land and whose influence dates all the way back to the 1700s.
The Ferrands was a much-loved traditional pub, once especially popular with Timothy Taylor’s drinkers, and we have gone to every effort to restore its original character.
What Alterations Have We Made?
The Yorkshire Project Design and Build team that work to fit out our venues have undertaken a total transformation of the building. Ground floor walls have been demolished in order to open up the space to be used in new ways, allowing for a centre bar and a raised gaming area to be installed.
The first floor accommodation has been removed to make way for a first floor kitchen, a pool room and additional seating. All services have also been moved upstairs to maximise ground floor space.
Old floors, doors and windows have been replaced, wall coverings renovated, and key features updated to tie in with the thoughtful décor that runs throughout our brand. Taking inspiration from the local surroundings and marrying itself to a more contemporary style with exposed brickwork and statement tiling.
And finally, plans have been submitted for the outside areas to include a heated seating area and raised decking.
What to Expect When We Open Our Doors?
Boasting a large selection of 20 different beers and ales, you will struggle to find a bar with this much choice outside of the city centre. Our suppliers will range from national breweries to local ones, with some of our cask supplied by Concept Brewing, our very own microbrewery in Horsforth.
Aside from beer, at Concept Taverns we are competitive about socialising! All of our venues feature some form of unique and popular gaming area. Market Square Tavern, however, will be the first to host two, with American pool and rebound shuffleboard to choose from.
Our passion for street food and casual dining will be reflected in our offering, with hand-stretched pizza, tacos, nachos and nibbles available 7 days a week.
Other highlights will include BT Sport and Sky Sports showing all the live coverage, an impressive cocktail menu with classics and signatures to taste your way through, a great wine selection, brewery hosted evenings and a passionately crafted events calendar!
